The Fun Theory

You have got to watch this...

Isn't this interesting? The fun theory is such an obvious concept, but we often don't live by it. Why not? Life of course is going to be filled with trials and tough times, but that doesn't mean that a healthy dose of fun shouldn't come along with them. Our joy ultimately comes from the Lord, but he desires us to experience life on earth in exciting, thrilling, and meaningful ways.

Fun can be the best motivator for kids and even for adults. Everyday monotonous tasks that often get you down can become positive experiences by making them fun. Here's a challenge: try something fun today, better yet, do something fun everyday. It doesn't have to be something extravagant or expensive, just something that turns a boring or dreaded experience into a fun and exciting one.

Dread picking up the kids from school because you have to wait in line for an hour? Make a fun playlist to listen to on your iPod, bring your favorite book to read while you wait in traffic, stock your car up with your favorite candy to snack on during that time. Getting tired of cooking? Try a new recipe! Get adventurous and make something authentic to a different culture (Asian, Mexican, French, Mediterranean); you can find any recipe these days online, so get searching! Hate cleaning? Turn up some music and find all natural products to use that smell delicious (Mrs. Meyers Cleaning Products). Have a big test to study for? Get in your favorite pair of pajamas, brew a big pot of coffee and put on a lighthearted movie in the background.

God is the source of all happiness and joy, only through him and by him will you find it. However, once it has been found, life can still get you down sometimes. Stress, worry, guilt, jealousy, exhaustion can all take a toll on you physically, mentally, and spiritually. Praying about these things is the first step. The second step is to start being proactive and looking at life through positive eyes. This is where the fun theory comes into play. The things in your life that get you down, stressed, or drained need to be revised into experiences that get you revived, relieved, and ready for the next challenge.

And I leave you with this...

Proverbs 15:13
A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.
